These works are the results of a process filtered through a specific system of guidelines. For these images the system is simple, one bottle at a time of PBR beer is removed from its 12 pack container and then opened. Once five tops showing different face values have been dealt (displaying a five card hand in poker) they are grouped together and that composition is set (being that I am playing the poker game Five Card Stud to achieve each work). Functioning within this set of rules defines the work and yet allows for the random element to dictate the final outcome and/or composition. Incidentally, the size of each image (7 ½” x 10”) is also the footprint size of a 12 pack of PBR in bottles.
